2. To gain mastery over control of small movements.
3. Development of controlled movement for pencil grip.(Pressure and Steadiness)
4. Development of geometric sense.
5. Helps stimulate artistic ideas in the mind of a child.

Metal Inset is one of the most attractive material present in a Montessori Environment. A number of extensions are designed to retain child’s interest in the material and help him gain perfection in working with it.

Extension Exercise Number Rods & Cards

Direct Aim:
To relate symbols to quantities that child already knows.

Indirect Aim:
To memorise the symbols.

In this exercise the child is first shown a number on card and is asked to get the number rod representing the same quantity.

Both number cards and number rods are placed separately on different mats at a distance from each other to help child memorise the numbers and to retain child’s interest in the exercise.
